# Location, ISP and Fallback on Per Proxy

Target a U.S. state, city or ISP on a Mobile Per Proxy proxy, and choose what the proxy does with the Fallback setting when no matching device is available.

Each Mobile Per Proxy proxy has its own **LOCATION** and **ISP**, set from the dropdowns in its row.

{% hint style="success" %}
**Fastest** is the recommended setting for both, because it leaves the proxy free to move if one location or ISP has a problem.
{% endhint %}

***

## Choose a location

* In the **LOCATION** dropdown, cities are listed under their state.
* Choose a state to let rotations use any available city in that state, or choose a city to pin the proxy to that one city.
* Changing a proxy's location rotates it straight away.

## Choose an ISP

The **ISP** dropdown lists the mobile ISPs available for the proxy's location, with **Fastest** as the default.

Choosing a location or an ISP locks it for future rotations.

A state or **Fastest** gives the proxy the widest choice of devices, while a single city or ISP keeps it exactly where you want it.

For what pinning locks in, see [How Proxy Assignment Works on Per Proxy Plans](/mobile-per-proxy/how-proxy-assignment-works-on-per-proxy-plans.md).

## Fallback

The **FALLBACK** column decides what a proxy does when no device matches its location and ISP.

<figure><img src="https://3163533074-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FiAQa47xivOtQQ7mQZOnQ%2Fuploads%2FawOIJubnOeWjcTYubVjG%2F07-fallback-dropdown.png?alt=media&amp;token=30284c0d-d03f-45a8-a70c-b03b7a8c75b0" alt="" width="563"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

{% tabs %}
{% tab title="Switch to fastest" %}
**Switch to fastest** keeps the proxy connecting through another available proxy, and clears your location and ISP selections.

This is the default behavior.

Your selections stay cleared even after the original location recovers, so set them again if you still need them.
{% endtab %}

{% tab title="Refuse connections" %}
**Refuse connections** keeps your selections, and refuses connections until your pinned proxy recovers.

Choose it when the location or ISP matters more to your work than staying connected.
{% endtab %}
{% endtabs %}

{% hint style="info" %}
Changing the fallback setting **does not** rotate the proxy.
{% endhint %}

## Quick FAQ

<details>

<summary>Why did my proxy's location go back to Fastest?</summary>

Its location became unavailable while **FALLBACK** was set to **Switch to fastest**, which keeps the proxy working by clearing your selections. Set the location again, or switch the proxy to **Refuse connections** if the location matters more than staying connected.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Should I pick a city or a state?</summary>

A state, unless you need one exact city. A state lets rotations use any available city in it.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.proxidize.com/mobile-per-proxy/location-isp-and-fallback-on-per-proxy.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
