# Rotating Your Per Proxy IPs

Change a Mobile Per Proxy IP with the rotate button, an automatic interval, a rotation URL or the API, with no limit on how often you rotate.

You can rotate a Mobile Per Proxy proxy as often as you need, and the IP changes while your credentials, location and ISP preferences stay the same.

## Ways to rotate

You can also rotate through the [Proxidize API](/proxidize-rest-api/proxidize-api.md).

## How often you can rotate

{% hint style="success" %}
There is no limit on manual rotation.
{% endhint %}

The rotate button, the rotation URL and the API each rotate the proxy again on every successful call, however soon after the last one.

The 1 minute minimum applies only to the automatic rotation interval.

Each rotation uses an available device that matches the proxy's location and ISP.

{% hint style="info" %}
For the smoothest rotations, choose a state or **Fastest** rather than a single city or ISP, so the proxy has the widest choice of devices.
{% endhint %}

To decide what a proxy does when no device matches its location and ISP, see [Fallback](/mobile-per-proxy/location-isp-and-fallback-on-per-proxy.md).

## When the ISP changes the IP

If you never rotate, the ISP may still reassign the IP on its own, typically every 1 to 4 hours.

{% hint style="info" %}
That is normal, your credentials stay valid, and nothing on your side needs updating.
{% endhint %}

## Refresh a rotation URL

**Refresh Rotation Key**, under **More actions** in the row, issues a new rotation URL for that proxy and invalidates the old one.

{% hint style="danger" %}
Use it if a rotation URL has been shared or exposed, since anyone with the URL can rotate that proxy.
{% endhint %}

## Quick FAQ

<details>

<summary>Do my credentials change when I rotate?</summary>

No. Rotation changes the IP only. Your username, password, port, location, and ISP all stay the same, so nothing in your tools needs updating.

</details>

<details>

<summary>What if a rotation doesn't go through?</summary>

It means no device matching the proxy's location and ISP was free at that moment. Try again, or choose a state instead of a city, or set the ISP to **Fastest**, to give the proxy more devices to choose from.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.proxidize.com/mobile-per-proxy/rotating-your-per-proxy-ips.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
