# Per GB Access Points

Create and manage Per GB access points on Mobile Per GB and Residential Per GB: named and IP whitelist access points, credentials, proxy lists and deleting.

An access point is how your tools connect to the Per GB pool on Mobile Per GB and Residential Per GB.

Each access point has its own settings and connection details, so most people create one per project or per tool and target each one independently.

Mobile Per GB and Residential Per GB each have their own set of access points, and every access point draws from that product's data balance.

***

## The Default access point

Every account starts with an access point called **Default**.

Its username is your user ID, and like every access point it has its own password, shown in **Proxy Details**.

***

## Create an access point

The **Access Point** dropdown lists your named and IP whitelist access points in two groups.

To add one, open the dropdown and choose **+ Create Access Point**.

{% tabs %}
{% tab title="Named" %}
A named access point has its own username and password, generated for you.

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Name it

Stay on the **User / Pass** tab and give it a name using letters, numbers and underscores.

{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Create it

Press **Create**, and the access point is ready straight away.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

Its username is your user ID, an underscore, then the name you chose, for example `USERID_myproject`.
{% endtab %}

{% tab title="IP whitelist" %}
An IP whitelist access point authenticates by your public IP instead, with no username or password.

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Add your IP

On the **IP Whitelist** tab, enter an IP address or use the **Add my IP** shortcut.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Use it

Each IP you add becomes its own access point, listed by address.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

Its **Proxy Details** shows the host, port and whitelisted IP, and its proxy list is just host and port.

{% hint style="info" %}
If your public IP changes, for example after a network switch, a VPN or an ISP reassignment, add the new address to keep your proxies connected.

On connections whose IP changes often, a named access point is the easier choice.
{% endhint %}
{% endtab %}
{% endtabs %}

***

## Your credentials

**Proxy Details** shows the host, port, username and password for the selected access point, each with a copy button.

The button beside the password generates a new one for that access point.

**Test with cURL** below it gives you a ready to run command built from your current settings, which returns the IP your request went out on.

With **Sticky IP**, run it twice to see the same IP come back.

<figure><img src="https://3163533074-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FiAQa47xivOtQQ7mQZOnQ%2Fuploads%2FMxjsDRJDcLLIxieXQQr4%2F12-proxy-details-curl.jpg?alt=media&#x26;token=7d32bbfd-58b0-469a-83db-702ea27479b2" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

{% hint style="info" %}
Changing an access point's settings also changes its username, so copy the credentials again after you make a change.
{% endhint %}

For the full username format, see [Per GB Connection Details and Username Format](/per-gb-proxies/per-gb-connection-details-and-username-format.md).

## Copy a proxy list

**Formatted Proxy List**, at the bottom of the **Access Point** tab, turns the selected access point into a list you can paste into a tool.

1. Choose how many rows you want.
2. Pick the format: `hostname:port:username:password` or `username:password@hostname:port`.
3. Choose the ports. **Static ports** gives every row the same port, and **Dynamic ports** gives each row its own, counting down from `20000` for HTTP and up from `20002` for SOCKS5.
4. Copy the list, or download it as a file.

{% hint style="info" %}
With **Sticky IP**, each row has its own session name, so generating the list again gives you new sessions.

Copy or download the list you want to keep.
{% endhint %}

To mix locations, ISPs, protocols or stickiness in one list, or to generate up to 10,000 proxies at a time, use [Per GB Session Builder](/per-gb-proxies/pergb-session-builder.md).

Generating lists costs no data, since data is only used when traffic runs through a proxy.

***

## Delete an access point

Hover an access point in the list and press the **×** that appears.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Deleting an access point is permanent, and its name can't be used again on your account.

Move your tools to another access point before you delete one.
{% endhint %}

## Quick FAQ

<details>

<summary>How many access points can I create?</summary>

As many as you need. They all draw from that product's data balance.

</details>

<details>

<summary>My credentials stopped matching. What changed?</summary>

Most often the access point's settings were changed after the credentials were copied, which rewrites its username. Copy the current username and password from **Proxy Details** again. If it is an IP whitelist access point, check whether your public IP has changed.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Do I need a separate access point for every location?</summary>

No. One access point can reach any location you set on it, or that you add to its username. Separate access points are useful for keeping projects apart.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Should I use static or dynamic ports?</summary>

With static ports every row shares one port, and the username tells each row apart.

Choose dynamic ports when a tool expects every proxy to have its own port.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.proxidize.com/per-gb-proxies/per-gb-access-points.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
