# Per GB Targeting and Sessions

Set a Per GB access point's protocol, location, ISP, stickiness and hostname on Mobile Per GB and Residential Per GB, and get a new IP when you need one.

On Mobile Per GB and Residential Per GB, the controls along the top of the **Access Point** tab shape the selected access point.

Changes save to that access point as you make them, with no save step, and each access point keeps its own settings.

## The settings

{% tabs %}
{% tab title="Mobile Per GB" %}

| Control        | What it does                                            |
| -------------- | ------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Type**       | **HTTP Proxy** or **SOCKS5 Proxy**                      |
| **Country** | United States, since Mobile is U.S. only |
| **State**      | A specific U.S. state, or **Random State**              |
| **City** | A specific city in the chosen state, or **Random City** |
| **ISP** | A specific mobile ISP, or **Random** |
| **Stickiness** | **Randomize IP** or **Sticky IP** |
| **Hostname** | **DNS Hostname** or **IP Hostname** |

**City** lists the cities of the state you choose, so pick a state first.
{% endtab %}

{% tab title="Residential Per GB" %}

| Control        | What it does                                                        |
| -------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Type**       | **HTTP Proxy** or **SOCKS5 Proxy**                                  |
| **Country** | Any of the 195+ countries, or **Random Country** |
| **State** | A state or region in the chosen country, or **Random State** |
| **City** | A specific city in the chosen country and state, or **Random City** |
| **ISP** | A specific ISP, or **Random Network** |
| **Stickiness** | **Randomize IP** or **Sticky IP** |
| **Hostname** | **DNS Hostname** or **IP Hostname** |

You can target a state or region in any country, or a city.
{% endtab %}
{% endtabs %}

Changing the state puts **City** back to **Random City**.

States, cities and ISPs are listed dynamically, so the lists show what the pool can serve right now.

{% hint style="info" %}
Changing these settings also changes the access point's username, so copy the credentials again after a change.

## Targeting tips

Per GB reaches the whole pool, and each filter you add focuses the part of it you draw from.

{% hint style="success" %}
When you need a region rather than one exact city, target a state and leave **City** on **Random City**, which draws from every city in that state.
{% endhint %}

Choose a single city or ISP when you need exactly that location.

## Sticky or random IPs

Per GB has no rotate button or rotation URL, because you are not holding a fixed proxy.

Your IP comes from the pool, and **Stickiness** decides how long you keep it.

{% tabs %}
{% tab title="Randomize IP" %}
**Randomize IP** gives you a new IP on every request.

It suits scraping and high volume automation.
{% endtab %}

{% tab title="Sticky IP" %}
**Sticky IP** keeps one IP for a session, identified by a session key in your username: `-s-` followed by a token.

Change the token to any other value to get a different IP from the pool, which is how you script large lists of sticky proxies.

**Refresh Session IDs**, at the top right of **Proxy Details**, appears with **Sticky IP** and replaces every session key at once.

| Product                | A sticky IP typically holds              |
| ---------------------- | ---------------------------------------- |
| **Mobile Per GB** | About 1 to 4 hours, depending on the ISP |
| **Residential Per GB** | About 1 to 3 hours                       |

How long a sticky IP lasts is set by the ISP.
{% endtab %}
{% endtabs %}

## Quick FAQ

<details>

<summary>How do I get a new IP?</summary>

Use **Randomize IP** for a new IP on every request. With **Sticky IP**, change the session key in your username, or press **Refresh Session IDs** to replace every key at once.

</details>

<details>

<summary>How do I see more variety in my IPs?</summary>

Widen the targeting. A single city plus a single ISP draws from a small part of the pool, so set **City** back to **Random City**, or the ISP back to random, to bring more of the pool into play.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Can I target by ZIP or postal code?</summary>

No.

You can target by country, state, city and ISP.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.proxidize.com/per-gb-proxies/per-gb-targeting-and-sessions.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
